Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) Cranberries are produced by an evergreen shrub and are most commonly used to prevent and treat urinary tract infections. They may prevent bacteria from attaching to the lining of the bladder, which may reduce the likeliness of an infection. Cranberries are packed with antioxidants and contain a high level of salicylic acid, which is known to help to reduce swelling, prevent blood clots, and prevent tumors.
